Privacy policy
code0.HDL processes information only as far as serving the documentation and running examples requires. This policy describes what is processed, why, how long it is kept, and the choices available to you.
Information processed
Reading a page. There is no account system, no login and no separate analytics tool. No page-view statistics are collected through an analytics service.
Running an example. Verilog, BSV and Chisel Run process source on your device without uploading it. Practice Submit also runs locally and sends only an observation trace to the server. To limit excessive server requests, the times of recent requests are held briefly in memory, keyed by IP address. Submitted code and execution results are not part of that record.
Server access logs. The web server and container runtime in front of the service may produce access logs containing IP address, time, requested URL, status code and user agent. This information is used only for operating the service and responding to misuse.
Code execution
Verilog and BSV Run execute only in the browser. The browser downloads compiler assets from this site and runs them in a dedicated Worker. Its temporary execution files are discarded when the job finishes or is stopped. An error does not send the source to the server, and no server execution option is provided.
Chisel runs in a new same-origin iframe using CheerpJ 4.3 / Java 17.
Java runtime files are fetched from cjrtnc.leaningtech.com; that CDN receives
the network information needed to serve them, including your IP address.
Chisel JARs come from this site. The site does not upload the learner's source
to either service for Run or Submit. CheerpJ uses browser storage for its local
filesystem. Completed jobs clean their files; files left by Stop or a closed
tab are cleared before the next Chisel job. Browser caches may retain runtime
files. Clearing this site's browser data removes its local execution storage.
Practice Submit sends a versioned record of observed circuit outputs to this site, without the source code. The server compares it with expected values stored privately and returns the first mismatch or a passing result. The server does not execute the submission.
- Observation traces and comparison results are not stored in a database or written to application logs.
- Draft source and solved state remain in this browser's localStorage; they do not sync across devices.
- Browser jobs clean temporary execution files when they finish. Stopped Chisel jobs are cleaned before the next job.
Cookies
| Cookie | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
locale | Remembers the documentation language you chose, so pages without a language in their URL are served in it. Functional; set when you use the language switch. | 1 year, SameSite=Lax |
The light/dark setting is not a cookie. It is stored in your browser's local storage and is never sent to the server.
Advertising and third-party cookies
code0.HDL does not currently use advertising scripts or advertising cookies. If advertising is introduced, this policy will be updated with the advertising service used, the cookies involved, how consent is managed, and the choices available to you.
Should advertising be introduced, third-party providers such as Google may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads and measure their performance. Personalised advertising would be served only after consent where local law requires it, and ad personalisation can be managed at Google Ad Settings.
Retention
- Information used for rate limiting: held in memory only and discarded shortly after.
- Observation traces and comparison results: not retained by the server.
- Server access logs: kept for as long as operating the service and responding to misuse requires, then deleted.
Your choices
- Documentation language: change it with the globe control in the header, or
delete the
localecookie in your browser settings. English is served if it is absent. - Theme: clearing your browser's local storage for this site resets it.
- Cookies generally: browsers can block or delete cookies per site. Blocking
localedoes not affect access to the documentation.
Changes
When this policy changes, the effective and last-updated dates are updated with it.
